Abstract
An experimental study was made of the secondary flow in a compressor cascade. Detailed surveys of the entire flow channel at various operating conditions are presented. The chief difference of the experimental results from those predicted by linearized theory was the presence of a turbulent separation region at the corner of the wall and the low pressure surface of the blade. While the actual losses involved were small, the effects on the succeeding stages of a turbomachine might be more severe.
