Abstract

The prediction of stresses developed in structures subjected to dynamic loading constitutes a problem which is receiving increased attention on the part of engineers. The use of models for this prediction offers an economical and practical solution to this problem. In this paper the modeling parameters for vibrating beams are developed through an analysis in which the equations of motion are reduced to dimensionless form. The validity of these modeling parameters hus been tested experimentally. These experiments are reported herein. It is further shown that this method of analysis can be extended to problems involving plates and frames.
