Abstract
The oscillator strength of the oxygen 1Δg → 3Σg- transition is evaluated in two ways: from the equivalent width of an individual line of the O-O band; and from the collective equivalent width of the Q-lines around the O-O band head.
These two methods give values for B/c, the Einstein coefficient for spontaneous absorption, of about .027 (erg-sec- molecule)-1 and .05 (erg-sec-molecule)-1, respectively.
