Abstract
The electromagnetic wave equations for the fields, potentials and Hertz vectors are derived and a Lorentz gauge is given for space-time dependent media. Electromagnetic wave propagation, electric and magnetic dipole radiation, and Cerenkov and transition radiation in sinusoidally space-time periodic dielectric, plasma and uniaxial plasma are studied and numerous radiation patterns are given. A special radiation effect in the uniaxial plasma is investigated. Finally the study is extended to general space-time periodic media (i.e., ε = ε0εr [1 + ε1 f(Kz - Ωt)] where f(ξ) is a periodic function).
