Abstract
Starting with the theoretical expressions of Eliason and Hirshfelder relating rate constants and reaction cross sections for bimolecular gas phase reactions, selected numerical calculations were made to estimate the experimental accuracies required in the concentration and temperature measurements to estimate the cross section. These calculations indicate that the accuracies required are far beyond those presently attainable.
